A few months ago the Shire committed to re-opening access to Edwards Island and today it happened.

As you can see from this aerial shot, the old track remains closed but a new track has been formed allowing vehicles to get to the point.

At present though there is a bit of weed on the beach so it might be prudent to wait until that clears before heading out there. But it’s certainly good news for the town and will please the kite and wind surfers no end.
