This weekend’s (Oct 24/25) hot weather has seen a jump in dugite and brown snake sightings around Lancelin.
This one measured about 50cm and was looking for a way into this house yesterday morning but it eventually gave up and slithered back into the bush. Dugites and brown snakes are deadly so if you see one, and you should on the lookout for them at this time of year, they will rarely approach or attack you if you keep your distance.
Most times they will simply move away from humans and unless you feel immediately threatened by a snake, remember it is illegal to kill them.
